How to Use the Monthly Budget Planner

This free budget calculator converts weekly, fortnightly and yearly figures into monthly amounts, giving you one consistent view of your household finances.

1

Choose your currency

Select US dollars, euros or British pounds. Changing the currency changes the display symbol; it does not convert exchange rates.

2

Add take-home income

Enter the money you actually receive after tax, deductions and other withholdings.

3

Enter regular expenses

Use recent statements and bills so essential, flexible and annual costs are not missed.

4

Include future goals

Add savings, sinking funds and debt payments to make them visible parts of your plan.

5

Review the result

Check your remaining balance and compare essentials, flexible spending and financial goals.

6

Adjust realistically

Test one manageable change at a time, then update your budget with actual figures each month.

What to Have Ready

Payslips and income records

Use take-home income and include reliable benefits, pensions or regular additional income.

Bank and card statements

Review the last two or three months to find recurring charges and realistic variable spending.

Bills and annual renewals

Include insurance, taxes, holidays, gifts, repairs and other costs that do not arrive monthly.

Income changes each month? Start with your lowest dependable monthly income. This creates a more cautious baseline; stronger months can then support savings, annual costs or debt repayment.

Budget Planner FAQs

Is this monthly budget planner free?

Yes. The planner is free to use and does not require registration. You can calculate, print and download a summary directly from your browser.

Can I use US dollars, euros or British pounds?

Yes. Choose USD, EUR or GBP at the top of the planner. The selected currency is used consistently across inputs, calculations and results. Changing currency changes the display only; it does not perform an exchange-rate conversion.

Are my financial figures stored?

Your calculations run in your browser and are not sent to Lifestyle Hub Today. The planner uses local browser storage only when you select “Save on this device”. Clear the saved budget before using a shared or public device.

Should I enter gross income or take-home pay?

Use take-home income: the amount available after tax, insurance, pension contributions and other payroll deductions. This gives a more realistic view of what you can spend.

What if my income varies every month?

Consider building your essential budget around the lowest income you can reasonably expect. You can direct income above that baseline towards savings, annual expenses, priorities or debt.

What does a negative balance mean?

A negative result means the entered outgoings are higher than the entered income. Recheck your figures first, then review flexible spending and contact an appropriate free debt-advice service if you are struggling with essential bills or repayments.

What is the 50/30/20 budget?

It is a flexible reference that assigns roughly 50% of take-home income to needs, 30% to wants and 20% to saving or debt goals. It will not suit every household, so use it as a comparison rather than a strict rule.
